Call for Abstracts
Contributed papers (oral presentations as well as posters) are welcome in any area of biostatistics, epidemiology and related topics. The Scientific Programme Committee particularly encourages submission of contributed papers about the invited session topics, as well as the following topics. Papers based on the presentations at ISCB30 may be submitted for a special conference issue of Statistics in Medicine. Abstracts will be evaluated before inclusion in the programme. Please note that presenters of abstracts are not automatically registered for the conference. Abstracts and registration for the conference are handled separately.

The Scientific Committee will review all abstracts and notification of acceptance will be given by May 1, 2009. If the abstract has been accepted, an abstract number will be assigned, which should be given as a reference when making any inquiries pertaining to the abstract. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book. All correspondence regarding the abstracts will be sent to the submitting author. The authors will be informed as to whether or not has the paper been accepted for an oral or poster presentation. Postgraduate students who apply for Student Conference Award should also send in a regular abstract. Student award winners automatically qualify for an oral presentation. Scientist award applicants should also submit a regular abstract, scientist award winners may be assigned an oral or poster presentation. Applicants for student or scientist award should indicate their applying by clicking/checking an appropriate button at the end of online/printed registration form. Scientist award winners may be assigned oral or poster presentation.
How to Use the On-line Abstract Submission System
The Conference uses EasyChair online submission system (http://www.easychair.org). Each author planning to submit an abstract must first register with the system to obtain his/her username and password. You can then register for abstract submission to ISCB30 at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iscb30.
The online abstract submission system will let you edit the submitted abstracts and make corrections later on. With the user name and password you can enter the system freely and at any time during the period from opening of the system until the deadline (midnight March 22, 2009).
Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts
Abstracts must be submitted not later than March 22, 2009 (midnight)
Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must pay the registration fee immediately after learning that their abstract has been accepted.

Abstract Submission Instructions
- abstracts must be submitted in English
- all abstracts must be original. Abstracts previously published or presented at international scientific meetings may not be submitted
- abstract should be submitted as plain text using the online submission form. When additional information, such as tables etc., is considered necessary, abstract may be submitted using a Word format, following the layout instructions stated below
- structure your abstract using the five sections given with the abstract layout instructions
- supplementary graphical information may be submitted along with an abstract as JPEG graphics
- the corresponding author’s name and e-mail address has to be filled in carefully - these contact details will be used for further correspondence
- online submission form will guide you in filling in all the details about the co-authors, title of your submission, text of the abstract, keywords and topic categories
- abstract title should use all CAPITAL letters
- select the appropriate topic for your abstract. If you are not sure which topic is appropriate, please, select ‘general (unspecified) topic category’
- select your submission category, specifying preferred mode of your presentation (oral or poster)
- select your submission group (where appropriate)
Abstract Layout Instructions
- your abstract should be as informative as possible
- use 11 point Times New Roman font and single line spacing throughout the whole abstract
- use left alignment
- type the body of your abstract using a free paper structure covering the following sections:
- Background
- Objective
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
- maximum length of your abstract is 2000 characters, including spaces
- your abstract title must be in bold and CAPITAL letters
- check spelling and grammar carefully - direct reproduction from your electronically supplied abstract text means that any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific data will be reproduced as submitted
- only standard abbreviations should be used
Abstracts, which do not conform to the above guidelines, will not be accepted.
